by friday on our first week, we had finished orientation, done our first anatomical dissection, and had been given our first journal club and histology quiz assignments. so much for a gradual start to medical school. that night we had our stethoscope ceremony (again, another attempt to be different. instead of the traditional white coat ceremony, we were handed our white coats wrapped in plastic earlier in the week, and then received our stethoscopes at a dinner celebration.) my grandma and my mom's cousin Kathy came to watch me. it was fun to see them, and also to meet everyone else's families.
