after we returned from SWEAT, we had one day to recuperate before beginning the real boot camp - ORIENTATION. 3 days, at least 12 hours per day, of a constant information barrage, where we learned about their goals for our education over the next 4,5,6,7, or even 8 years. (side note: at stanford, we like to be different. thus, an education that typically takes 4 years can now take as long as you want. why? i'm still working on figuring it out. basically if you love research so much that you want to spend years doing only that (no thanks), or if you want several more degrees after your name. needless to say, i hope i'm on the four year track.)
each day we had one FUN activity. the first day was definitely the best - TEAM CUISINE. they gave us Stanford Med aprons, and then we were put in groups to make part of the dinner. my group made guacamole - 2 enormous bowls of it. we had a lot of fun!
with johana, erick and kupe. don't we look adorable???
one of the best parts of orientation (at least the most useful parts) was meeting our professors. our anatomy professors are british, so naturally, i love them. they are absolutely hilarious, and use all sorts of wonderful british terms such as "orientated." i am also learning british spellings and pronunciations of all anatomical terms, which should prove interesting when i ask someone about the "oesophagus," or "trachea" (emphasis on the 2nd syllable.)
